The challenge
A GP practice needed additional support managing incoming clinical correspondence. GPs were spending valuable time reviewing hospital letters, discharge summaries and other documents alongside their existing clinical workload.
Our solution
NovaHS introduced its Premium package, an ANP-led workflow service. Experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners review clinical correspondence and determine the appropriate next steps. Depending on the content, documents are safely filed, actioned or directed to the relevant clinician or service, with matters requiring GP input appropriately escalated.
The outcome
The service provides additional clinical capacity by reducing the volume of correspondence requiring direct GP review. ANPs manage documents within their clinical competence, supporting more efficient workflow, timely actioning and more GP time for direct patient care.
This case describes ANP-led delivery within the Premium package. It does not mean every document is reviewed by a GP, and no measured percentage reduction in GP workload was supplied.
