Case studies

A selection of examples from practices we have worked with over the past four years. To protect confidentiality, specific practice names have been omitted — but the challenges, solutions and outcomes are real.

NovaDoc

Clearing a 3,000-document backlog in a week

96%

The challenge

A remote Yorkshire practice serving around 9,000 patients had built up a backlog of more than 3,000 unprocessed clinical documents. The pressure was contributing to GP burnout and delaying important patient actions.

The proposed solution

We onboarded our NovaDoc Premium Plus service within two weeks, with GP-led governance, standardised coding and clinician-led triage integrated into the practice's existing pathways.

The outcome

The entire backlog was cleared within a week. In the first week, direct GP workload from correspondence was cut by 96%. The results led to a PCN-wide, ARRS-funded rollout of the service.

NovaClinic

Turning triage pressure into extra capacity

200+

The challenge

In 2021, a large practice serving around 30,000 patients was overwhelmed by its online-consultation workload, with demand outstripping the capacity of the clinical team.

The proposed solution

We introduced a clinician-led triage system, with experienced clinicians reviewing and directing incoming requests to the right point of care.

The outcome

The service saved around 10 clinical sessions each week and generated more than 200 additional appointments a week. Up to 70% of triage requests were addressed directly, without needing to escalate to a GP.

NovaMed

Cutting pharmacist-level workload by 90%

90%

The challenge

A practice was overwhelmed by the volume of prescription and medication queries, leaving little time for structured medication reviews.

The proposed solution

We deployed a pharmacy technician support team to manage prescription queries and medicines-management tasks, with clear escalation pathways to the practice's clinical pharmacists and GPs.

The outcome

Within two weeks, pharmacist-level tasks reaching the clinical team were reduced by 90%, allowing the practice to catch up on its outstanding medication reviews.

NovaBespoke

A bespoke daily clinic for mixed demand

70%

The challenge

A practice was facing a mixed daily workload of minor ailments, fit-note requests and blood-pressure reviews that was consuming valuable GP appointments.

The proposed solution

We designed a bespoke daily clinic model, staffed by trained clinicians working to clear, agreed clinical pathways for each type of request.

The outcome

The clinic independently managed 70% of minor ailments, 98% of fit-note requests and 95% of blood-pressure reviews — releasing significant GP capacity.
