The challenge
A GP practice in Dorset required additional clinical support to manage its morning triage workload, respond effectively to patient demand and reduce pressure on its existing GP team.
Our solution
NovaHS introduced dedicated remote GP triage clinics twice a week. Experienced GPs assess incoming patient requests, prioritise clinical needs and direct patients to appropriate care. They also undertake and complete patient consultations remotely, providing clinical assessment, advice, treatment and onward referrals where appropriate. This enables many concerns to be managed directly rather than passed back for another appointment with the practice team.
The outcome
The practice benefits from additional GP capacity during morning triage and timely remote assessments and consultations. Managing and resolving requests directly reduces consultations passed back to in-house GPs, distributes workload and releases appointment capacity. The service supports a more efficient triage process, patient access and flexibility for the existing team.
We are seeing a huge difference in workload for our in-house GPs with the support of the remote triage system from Nova.
