- 9,038 further documents processed

The challenge
North Shore Surgery needed to clear a significant volume of outstanding documents while maintaining support for new correspondence. With a practice list of 13,800 patients, the team needed a way to address the historic backlog without letting day-to-day document work build up.
Our solution
We ran clinical correspondence backlog clearance alongside ongoing GP document processing. The backlog project began on 20 April 2026, followed by the ongoing service on 23 April 2026. This allowed both workstreams to progress together.
The outcome
All 11,888 backlog documents were cleared within weeks. Once the practice saw how much pressure that removed, it moved straight onto ongoing document support, which has processed a further 9,038 documents, and the practice has not had another backlog since. That is 20,926 documents across the two workstreams.
Clearing the historic backlog while continuing to process incoming documents helped the practice move towards a more manageable document workflow.
We would like to thank Nova for the excellent support they have provided to our practice. They successfully cleared a backlog of almost 12,000 clinical coding documents and have continued to support us with ongoing clinical coding over the past five months. The quality of their work has been consistently high, communication has always been clear and professional, and they have been a valued partner throughout. We would not hesitate to recommend Nova to other practices.
